If you are considering a move, do not hire this company ... the crew that loaded our the contents of our 3 bedroom home near Edmonton, AB were entirely incompetent and careless ... they arrived several hours late, wrongly contradicted many things that we were told by the salesperson (ie. that we were supposed to dismantle lamps, beds, etc), failed to have proper equipment to move our piano, stickered items to be moved that any sensible person would know were not leaving the premises (ie. concrete bench from the patio), threatened to leave a mattress behind that they had difficulty securing properly, and damaged several items.

The crew that offloaded the van at our new home on Vancouver Island were knowledgeable and hardworking ... however, they were not supplied with any paperwork regarding our shipment and had issues with the condition of the trailer supplied to them by AMJ Campbell/Atlas which caused them to be delayed enroute having to replace unsafe tires ... the driver and a single crew member offloaded the van in less time that the incompetent 5 member crew took to load the same contents ...

The headboard of our bed was broken into 5 pieces, a step ladder was missing, a mechanical chair that was in good working order when it left our Edmonton home arrived in non-working condition to name just some of the issues.

Although we purchased expensive additional insurance, the insurer has resisted compensation except for fixing the headboard.

And if this isn't enough to persuade you not to hire this company (or any other Atlas operator),they initially refused the claim to replace the step ladder by relying on a false document ... a bingo sheet with a signature that wasn't mine and the name of a driver we never dealt with ... the actual delivery crew had no bingo sheet for us to sign ... What reputable company proffers a fraudulent document to avoid replacing a $150 step ladder?!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $10000

I was given a verbal estimate for my move over the phone. No one viewed my items. Once items were on route the consultant called me to say my move was not at the estimate of 2000 dollars but it was over 5000 dollars. I was not given a bill or any official documents for this huge cost. I attempted to call many people at AMJ offices seeking assistance and help with this. The consultant basically said you pay or we store your belonging and charge you. I was totally unprepared for this cost of over $5000 dollars. Finally I was contacted by owner Tom .. he proceeded to tell me how important he was in the company and then ran me down personally And called me a scammer and a piece of work. I was shocked Tom agreed to lower price to $4250. This was not much of a discount or help to me. Feeling threaten and helpless I paid this amount to receive my goods. As a customer I was totally shocked by the unsupportive and abusive conversation. The consultant contacted me to come to her office. When I arrived she asked for my charge card and signature. I explained I had already paid the amount and cleared the charges on the card. I requested a copy of the invoice and official weight documents. I was lead out of the office. These documents came in the mail. These showed the cost of my move was not over $ 5000. The weight was over my estimate. But not what the consultant told me in the phone call. This also shows a balance owing of $532. I was given an agreed price by Tom, why have I received this extracost ? I am not skilled at determining weights . I had no idea what the weight of my move was. The estimate given was a scam to get my business. There was no help offered to me, once there was a problem for me as a customer. I had contacted the consultant several times by phone prior to pick up to discuss weight estimate. I made it clear I was concerned about costs. I did not know what things weighed. The consultant was reassuring and convinced me there would be no problem. At no time was an estimated sent out to quote a cost.
I received my goods; broken and damaged. Seems the movers filled out the invoice on move day with numbers beside everything, stating every single thing moved was damaged. This wasagain a scam against me. I signed this not knowing what these numbers were. Therefore I have nothing to go back on to claim damaged goods. I was prepared to move goods for $ 2000 . The goods moved were not worth more than this. I paid $4250 to move, received damaged goods and a bill for an extra costs.
This was a terrible stressful situation for me. As a customer I would expect more support understanding and a better service as stated in AMJ website. I was scammed and mistreated when I questioned AMJ process. I am shocked at this situation and the lack of support and respect for a customer.

Move size: Studio flat Service cost: $4250

We moved from BC to Alberta earlier this year. Ensure that you ask for your scale tickets!!! They only reimbursed when I asked for the scale tickets because they were off by over 1,000lbs. The reimbursement took nearly 2 months. I have several broken items and over $7,000 in missing items. They damaged both of our properties. Their packing job was absolutely atrocious and took us significantly longer to unpack due to their poor packing. They have refused to make any settlement and just continue to argue themselves in circles.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $25000

On September 2022 we bought a house out of town and sold ours of 30 years in Pembroke, Ont. We met with a few moving companies and we found AMJ Campbell to be the most informative, helpful, supportive & caring provider. We chose them! In preparation for the move Mr. Woodtke kept in touch and continued to support us.

On the day of the move and days after I reported a broken chandelier (that they packed), damages on our front door and frame, scratches on our railing, bannister, floors and walls.

In the process of unpacking I began to realize that I was missing numerous items. My missing items just kept adding up. I reported this to the Pembroke office and advised to contact Jason Cochrane, Manager in Ottawa. Jason Cochran asked for an itemized list of what was missing and cost. I mailed it to him on October 4, 2023. The next day I called him and he confirmed having received my email. WE HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM YET!!! He hasn’t dealt with our chandelier yet either.

I am extremely disappointed with this company’s performance and lack of response. The pain is great, my lost valuables are many and this company doesn’t seem to understand the impact of their lack of interest and their indifference to my many calls (some not returned) for help and hope for a settlement.

If I could rate it - , I would.Thanks to AMJ Campbell. I lost thousands of dollars and faith in humanity. If you do not want your move to be a complete disaster, run away from this company.
I moved with my family from Winnipeg to Toronto in July 2018, full service for packing and moving 4 BD house. The price was between the highest, after a negotiations, the company reduced the price a bit to be more competitive, it ended with $6406. Although I had better prices, AMJ Campbell convinced me to go with them. The packing day was long. Only 3 people worked although I requested 4 because I had a lot of stuff. The delivery was late in 1 day, the company offered a discount of $300 which I accepted.

The day of receiving was a complete and total disaster.
I put all my family gold, diamonds and my jewelry in home in a jewelry boxes. I was wearing on me some of the gold items, such as my wedding and engagement rings, my grandmother ring and gifts from my mother, day before I received the shipment. I used to wear those specific items every day. The day of the receiving was very long and stressful, all the jewelry were in the boxes in the house. The movers had an access to everywhere in the house and I couldn't possibly watch every step in 2-floors house. I never thought it could happen, however next morning after receiving the furniture and stuff, I couldn't find 2 jewelry boxes with most precious and priceless items, inherited gold and diamond jewelry from my mother, my Mother-in-law RIP and Grandmother RIP, my wedding and engagement rings, my mother and Mother-in-law RIP engagement and wedding rings, and gold items my husband gave me. My husband is only one child, his mother gave me her gold before she died.
I filed complain to the police. Total lost is appraised above 27000. The company takes no responsibility and is not willing to conduct any type of investigation. They just answered my question, stating that all the movers have clean criminal record, and refused to provide any supportive documentation. I had also a painter in the house at the same time, but he started to work before the moving day and continued to work another month after moving day. The jewelry went missing on the moving day. Nothing else disappeared during any other day. I am heartbroken, all the memories, all the jewelry I had form my mom, Grandmother and Mother-in-Law are gone. I don't know how to talk to my mom, she's old sick lady, she worked very hard her whole life and she gave me her jewelry to keep with me. I am ashamed to look into my husband face. Everything precious from 3 generations of my family disappeared on the moving day. It happened 2 months ago, and only now I can find a strength to talk about it. My family pain is endless, this is ruining my life. I'm not pointing fingers, those are sad facts.

The team of the movers who came with the furniture were unprofessional to say the least. They didn't wrap my wooden stairs in the house and didn't put runners at the beginning, there didn't care if they cause any damage and started to argue from the beginning. Only after me pointing out the scratch they just made on hardwood floor, they wrapped the stairs and placed the runners. The movers refused to re-assemble the furniture. The furniture was only partially wrapped. After my call to the office, they reassembled only part of the beds. The team lead, Frank, was extremely rude, he yelled at me in my house in front of my kids. How did I dare to call the office and cause him trouble. Just to be clear, re-assemble was part of the contract, I can't do it myself. This is why I hired "professionals" and payed for the service a lot of money. After an argument, I found out that my expensive Ashley furniture and things were moved 3 times from trailer to trailer, and the last small trailer was to small.

I don't know why I deserved such a horrible experience, I was very nice, calm and polite with the movers, I offered them a lunch and beverages, one of them even ate. I paid more than 6 thousands to receive a service which was below 0.

Only after few mails and phone calls, 3 days later, another team cam to assemble the furniture.

Part of the furniture and other stuff such as iron or paintings came broken and damaged. Box, rugs, desk and some few items are missing. Most of the furniture is scratched, damaged and chipped. There is a lot of damage to my king bed and king mattress, some damage to the kids beds and desks. I am upset, because all the furniture was purchase a year and half before the moving day, We purchased a new house in Winnipeg less then 2 years before the moving day, and we invested a lot in new expensive furniture and decorations. Some of the unbreakable items such as books were wrapped in a lot of paper, but other breakable items such as glasses were jammed inside small box with a lot of the paper on the top and the bottom. I guess different packers use different system to pack, or the packers were tired by the end of the long packing day and just didn't care anymore. Any ways, most of the boxes were just filled with the papers, 2 months later I'm still throwing the papers away.

To sum up, I do NOT recommend AMJ Campbell. This was the worst service experience of my life. If I went back in time, I would prefer to leave my furniture behind and not hire this company. I filed claim for all the missing and damaged items, except the jewelry. The police investigation is open, I am waiting to receive the results and considering to go to the court against the company and against the movers personally for the missing jewelry.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6400

To make a long story short, cause I just don't have anything nice to say and don't want to get into a pissing war, just want to pre-warn anyone thinking of using this company!
I would never recommend this company, they were terrible, customer service wise from the lack of contact to the owner not listening to my frustration to hanging up in my ear via the phone, my stuff arrived in New Zealand 10 months later with broken totes, ripped packing causing damage to expensive guitars. Like others who have moved said to me, we can understand 4-5 months, but 10-thats just in-excusable! Expensive items packed poorly by the shippers so precious irreplaceable items broken. When trying to reason with this company and get some kind of communication, I had to contact them, never did they contact me to apologize for the lengthy time frame, never did they ask if we wanted to pay extra cost to get container shipped instead of letting it sit in damp, cold conditions in a container, which now pictures are warped, frames are cracked, glass broken.
Owner of the company had the audacity to tell me I was fabricating a story, but kind think the proof is in the pudding so to speak! 10 months, broken items! He even had the Gaul to say "well you did take the cheap way of moving" "You didn't pay alot" seriously??who the heck justifies this kind of time frame and service on what we pay? So if I had of paid thousands more would I of gotten speedier and better service, that's horrifying!!
And in utter frustration, when I called, after him not apeasing the situation, showing any kind of empathy, my anger exculpated and he chose to hang up in my ear, this is great customer service!
Upon items arriving in NZ finally, it got noticed I had no saddle to declare as well yet again another screw up..The packers mixed up two separate orders so now my one box of expensive items has gone to another address in the north island when it was supposed to be with my items and they wouldn't take ownership for the mistake made in packing, he turned round and tried justifying a 73 year old man having a horse riding saddle? Absolutely degusting and I would never ever recommend them nor use them again! I felt after all of this we should of got some kind of offering back, like even a gift card, and got nothing..
At the end of the day, be pre warned, this is my experience with this company! I expect everyone's experiences are different but reading other reviews this isn't the first time and I am sure wont be the last!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5500

If you value your possessions then hire any company but not AMJ. They damaged furniture, lost precious family photos as well as furniture items.Dropped the tv off the truck as we watched and then picked it up and put it back on the trolly like.. oh well.. Did not re asseble what they took apart because they lost the bolts/screw.What they tried to asseble they had no clue how to, nor did they have the right tools. Claimed "left it in my buddies truck" Did not come to move prepared, no shrink wrap , no bags for boxsprings.. Arrived late (by the way did not call us I had to call them) and then proceeded to have a cofffee and smoke break.Broke glass on a curio cabinet.Damaged end tables,buffet, broke floor lamp, the list goes on. Have been sending e-mail after e-mail for months after the horrible move day and I still cannot get replacement of boxspring or remaining promised money owing. It took 6 weeks for them to come and repair some of the items and I had to hire a separte company to re-asseble the bedroom so my recently widowed mom would have a place to sleep. It was a difficult and emotional time and AMJ Cambell made it worse.They had my mom; who was in a wheel chair in tears as a 4 hour move took 10 hours.She watched in horror as the boxes marked fragile arrived crushed and up side down. They don't care about there customers and perhaps that's what happens when a company gets to large. I never write a review and I have been patiently waiting for this to come to an end ;but I don't think it ever will. I chose poorly but I hope this review will stop you from making the same mistake. If I have not made myself clear let me reiterate.DO NOT HIRE AMJ CAMBELL.And tell your friends not to as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and pass on this message.

Proof that I had such a great inter-provincial move experience with AMJ Campbell Van Lines moving company from Ottawa to my March 2019 move to Montreal is that this review is coming in so late!! Here we are months in, and I've been too busy enjoying life thanks to the movers who got me here! My Agent was Kyle Deschambault, but he was more of an Angel. He stayed patient and flexible with me as I had to move my date a couple of times because of some glitches with the Montreal apartment. He was the one constant who promised me a stress-free move from initial recon of my possessions to final billing. Such a professional, gentlemanly crew of two cared for the floors in the Victorian flat I left from Hintonburg as they moved everything swiftly and in no time flat. On the other side a couple of days later, the same Lead was phenomenal with his men - as a single woman, I appreciated him taking care of a bothersome superintendent who didn't want to reserve the elevator for me, nor let the front doors open for the guys to load their ramp. I could trust the AMJ Truck Lead to stay calm, and be professional as he negotiated all those vital elements for me. His experience, grace, and smarts shone! Absolutely over-the top-service. Everything was delivered expertly without flaws. My demanding job at the CBC at the time required that I get set up and fast - the guys made sure of this. I was settling into my home in no time, having had a terrific experience. Do not hesitate - book these folks. Thank you, AMJ Campbell!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Flat Service cost: $2000

Terrible experience with AMJ for my grandmother. Movers barely completed their job, and not in the way she asked for/was told to expect. She paid to have the movers unpack and they left everything in boxes stacked to the ceiling. Several small furniture items were broken along the way. They were swearing and being rude and unprofessional throughout. They left their work materials in the hallway of her new condo and didn't come to pick them up for 4 days. And on top of all this, they charged her almost double the original quote. She tried to remedy the situation by giving this location a call and was met only with incredibly poor and aggressive attitude.

After calling the head office in Canada, they promised they'd remedy the situation. In the end, they gave her back an extremely tiny sum of money and promised movers would come at a certain time to help move some of the items to her storage unit - they didn't.

And to top it off, this was just a move from one neighbourhood in Victoria to another, so if they can't handle this, I'm not sure how they're supposed to handle moves to different cities/provinces.

Avoid this company.
